Justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere has fixed  judgment in the trial of the suspected murderers of Cynthia Osokogu to 23rd March, 2017.

The adjourned date was announced today after  counsel adopted their final written addresses.

The defendants Okwumo Nwabufo, 33, Olisaeloka Ezike, 23, Orji Osita, 33, and Ezike Nonso, 25 are facing a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder, stealing, recklessness, negligence and possession of stolen goods.

Adopting his final written address on behalf of the defendants  Mr. Victor Okpara said the trial was fair and urged the court to discharge and acquit the defendants.

At the resumed hearing today, Justice Akinlade frowned at the delay of the second defendant counsel, Mr. Nwachukwu in filing his final written address, pointing out that court would not allow counsel to use delay tactics to stall justice.

It would be recalled that Miss Osokogu was allegedly murdered on the 22nd of July 2012 at Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate, Festac Town, Lagos by her Facebook lover.

The murder trial began on the eighth of February 2013 with the state calling the hotel receptionist as its  first witness.
