Federal High Court Chief Judge Calls for Nomination for Appointment of 15 New Judges

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho has called on the heads of Appellate Courts, Chief Judges of the 36 States and the FCT,  the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, the Attorney General of the Federation and others to nominate for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court 15 qualified legal practitioners.

Justice Tsoho noted that the nominations should come from the following 14 states; Akwa – Ibom, Bauchi, Benue,  Ekiti,  Enugu, FCT, Kaduna, Katsina,  Kogi, Kwara,  Lagos, Rivers,  Sokoto  and Zamfara.

The letter reads in part:

APPOINTMENT  OF FIFTEEN  (15)  ADDITIONAL JUDGES   FOR THE  FEDERAL HIGH  COURT  BENCH

I write to  inform Your L Lordships, the Honourable  Attorney  – General of the Federation  and Minister of  Justice and the President of  the  Nigerian  Bar Association ,    that   the  exercise for   the  consideration of   candidates  for possible appointment to the Bench of the Federal Hi g h Court with regard to some States will soon  commence.

The States in issue  include:  – Akwa – Ibom, Bauchi, Benue,  Ekiti,  Enugu, FCT, Kaduna, Katsina,  Kogi, Kwara,  Lagos, Rivers,  Sokoto  and Zamfara.

In  line  with the  NJC Guidelines  and Procedural   Rules  for  appointment  of Judicial  Officers of Superior Courts, I therefore invite Your Lordships, the Honourable Attorney-General  of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the President  Nigerian  Bar Association to kindly nominate suitably  qualified persons  from the aforementioned  States  for  appointment  to  the  Federal High Court Bench.
