Activities at the Lagos High Court Annex, TBS  Lagos, have been paralyzed  as the Lagos Chapter of the Judicial Workers Union joins the JUSUN nationwide indefinite strike which began today.

The Union proceeded on the strike even amidst call by stakeholders to JUSUN to reconsider the timing of the strike action.

Recall that the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Olumide Akpata, Members of the House of Representative committee on Judiciary as well as the CJN had urged that the strike action should be shelved to afford further dialogue.

In a radio interview earlier this morning, the Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the judiciary union confirmed the nation wide strike which he said is aimed at ensuring that government implements Judiciary autonomy.  He however hinted that  JUSUN is not averse to dialogue.

JUSUN had on March 13, 2021 issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government which elapsed on Sunday, April 4, 2021. In a further statement issued after the ultimatum elapsed it had asked its members to shutdown courts nation wide beginning from today, 6th April, 2021.

Below are pictures of courts at TBS and Ogba Lagos under lock with JUSUN task force on ground to enforce compliance.

Developing Story…
