Activists, under the aegis of Access to Justice (A2Justice), on Sunday demanded the immediate removal of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Chairman, Mr. Danladi Umar, for allegedly assaulting a security guard at Banex Plaza in Wuse, Abuja.

It said Umar should either resign or be removed by President Muhammadu Buhari, after disciplinary proceedings, for “naked and unbridled abuse of power”.

Umar has been under fire since last Monday when he was caught on camera assaulting a 22-year-old Plateau State native, Clement Sargwak, who told him his vehicle was parked in the wrong space at the popular plaza.

In the five-minute video that went viral online, the CCT boss was seen kicking Sargwak, while police officers tried to restrain him.

In his defence, CCT spokesperson Ibraheem Al-Hassan said the guard was rude and could not provide a reasonable explanation why Umar should not park where he did.

A2Justice condemned the incident in a statement by its Convener Joseph Otteh and Project Director Deji Ajare.
