Three men, Aminu Isiya, Lawal Kanjal and Iliya Adam, all of the Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State have been remanded in the Katsina Correctional Centre for being alleged informants of bandits.

They will be in custody till April 13, 2021, when their case will come up for mention before the Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court.

The police revealed on Thursday when the suspects were arraigned that Isiya was the first to be arrested over the allegation.

Isiya reportedly mentioned Kanjal and Adam as his accomplices during investigation.

It was learnt that the trio allegedly provided bandits with information they used in the recent kidnap of two residents of the council area, Fiddausi Sani and Fauziya Sani.

The two ladies were said to have been kidnapped from Daram when bandits attacked the village and Kurfi, the council’s headquarters.

The bandits were also said to have attacked other villages and communities in the council based on the information that the three accused persons allegedly passed to the leader, one Saminu Kwano, who is said to be at large.

The police have already slammed charges of criminal conspiracy, belonging to a gang of brigands and abetting of kidnapping on the three suspects.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, told the court that the offences were contrary to sections 59, 288, 46 and 243 of the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2019.

Bello told the court that investigation was in progress on the case and requested another date when the case could come up for mention.

The presiding senior magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, granted the request and adjourned the case till April 13, 2021 for mention.
