Following the demise of Oluwaseyi Gabrielle Ojo who was until her death the Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ekiti State chapter, a new Chairperson Yetunde Oluwatoyin Odunayo was unanimously appointed by the members at its General Meeting held on Wednesday 12 February 2020 to fill the vacant position
Yetunde Oluwatoyin Odunayo who is also the vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ekiti State branch, works with the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice She was the unanimous candidate
Oluwatoyin is the Deputy Director, Administrator-General and Public Trustee, Ekiti State. She holds an LLB and LLM from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003.
She joined the Service of Ekiti State in 2006 and has garnered extensive experience in providing legal advice to government entities, drafting of legal documents, prosecution of civil and criminal cases and alternative dispute resolution procedure.
Oluwatoyin is the Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development where she has worked with the Committee on Gender Based Violence.She has served as the Focal Person/Desk Officer representing the Ministry of Justice in the Ekiti State Aids Control Agency (EKSACA). She was formerly the Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Culture and
Tourism.
She is the Chairperson of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria Ondo – State
Branch; Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM); Member, Justice Sector Reform Team Ekiti State; Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators
(N.I.C.ARB.); and Member, Sunshine Toastmasters Club (Toastmasters International). She is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustee of Citizen Centre for Social
Development (CCSD) an NGO.
Oluwatoyin is a Consultant of the FOCAC Legal Forum of China and a Research Fellow of China-Africa Legal Research Centre.
Formerly the Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ado-Ekiti Branch, Oluwatoyin has attended all Annual Conferences of the Nigerian Bar Association till date . She attended the Regional Congress of International Federation of Women Lawyers,
Abuja where the African Protocol on Women and the Ratification and Domestication
of the Convention on Eradication of Violence against Women (CEDAW) was discussed.
She attended the International Conference of FIDA in Milano, Italy and Lagos, Nigeria.
Her interests include the protection of the rights, health and psychosocial needs of
women, children and vulnerable people. In support of her passion, Odunayo established an NGO called Citizen Centre for Social Development (CCSD).
Her core areas of professional expertise are Criminal Law, Human Right Law and Practice, Gender Advocacy, Civil Law Practice, Meditation and Arbitration
Practice.
