The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Paul Usoro SAN has highlighted some of the major achievements of his administration since the last quarter.

The above highlight is contained in his opening adddress at the ongoing National Exectuive Committee (NEC) meeting holding at the NBA Secretariat in Abuja.

Some of the highlights centered around the AGC and AGM, Incorporation and Filings at Corporate Affairs Commission (“CAC”); NBA Life Assurance Scheme; Internet Connectivity; NBA Women’s Forum and Young Lawyers’ Forum; Election Monitoring; AfCFTA Trade Negotiations; Prudent Financial Management and many more.

On the issue of the Rule of Law, Mr. Usoro lamented the continues assault on the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession and urged lawyers that it is time to speak with one voice in upbraiding what he called the “despicable conducts” as threat and danger to one is a threat and danger to all.

Speaking on the upcoming election, he warned that the use of material benefits in a corrupt quid pro quo arrangement to lure young lawyers should be resisted by aspirants. He urged that as members of a noble and disciplined profession, aspirants must abide by the yet-to-be-published rules for the 2020 NBA National Elections.
