Earlier today, news broke of the kidnap of Mr. A.O. Atemoagbo, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Auchi Branch and the subsequent killing of his wife in the process. The NBA through it’s publicity secretary Mr. Kunle Edun has issued a statement condemning the spate of insecurity in Nigeria while assuring that it would make all necessary effort to ensure that the kidnapped ex NBA Chairman regains his freedom. The NBA also mourned the death of the wife of the kidnap victim.

Gentlemen, the sad news of the murder of the wife of our distinguished colleague, Mr. A.O. Atemoagbo who is a former Chairman of Auchi Branch and the kidnap of the former Chairman by bandits in Edo State yesterday, was a most unfortunate incident. The security of lives and properties should be top priority for any Government.
The prayers and good wishes of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro, SAN, the National Officers and members of the Bar are with the former Chairman and the executive and members of the Auchi Branch of the NBA.
In the interim, the Nigerian Bar Association is in constant communication with the Chairman of Auchi branch and shall also liaise with the relevant security agencies with a view to ensuring the early release of Mr. Atemoagbo from the custody of the kidnappers and apprehension of the bandits that committed the dastardly act.
