NBA Birnin-Kebbi branch has written to the ECNBA over their verification challenges.
The letter signed by the branch secretary Shamsudeen Jaafar Esq. reads in part:
We write to inform you about the unpleasant experience members of the Nigerian Bar Association Birnin Kebbi Branch (Equity Bar) are presently facing in their efforts to verify their account for the forthcoming NBA Election.
Let us first and foremost state unequivocally that members of Birnin Kebbi Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association are extremely dejected on the ugly development as far as verification exercise is concern under the services of CRENET TECHLABS. This development caused unnecessary hardship to the members and casted whole lot of doubt in the election process. We need to further state categorically that determining who will be our president of the Nigerian Bar Association is our constitutional right and it must be sanctified and guaranteed.
The Branch sent its list of eligible voters to your committee and all our members were able to without stress verify their accounts on the platform provided by CHAMS. We observed and witnessed with great disappointment that more than 95% of members of NBA Birnin Kebbi Branch are presently unable to verify their records despite several frustrating attempts and today is the last day for verification.
The worst case scenario is a situation whereby some of our members were unable to see their records on the platform. Any effort to access the platform to see their account they receives information that ‘no record matching Supreme Court Number found’.
It is therefore on this basis we write to inform your committee that that there is need for the extension of verification exercise for the members of the Branch as we cannot condone disenfranchising us exercising our constitutional right.
Accompanying the letter is the lists of members of Birnin Kebbi Branch wherein problems being encountered were stated.
Thank you.
