Felix Ifeanyi Ashimole popularly known as Che Oyinatumba, has dragged the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), its Registrar General, Azuka Azinge and the Chief Security officer of the commission, Akinwande Taoreed Adesina to court over enforcement of his fundamental human rights.
Ashimole who is a lawyer and Secretary of the Bwari Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is amongst other reliefs, asking the court to “declare that the continued refusal of the respondents to allow him access to all offices of the CAC since November 2017 constitutes a violation of his fundamental rights guaranteed under sections 40 and 41 of the 1999 Nigerian constitution”.
According to him, he had met with the Acting Registrar, Azuka Azinge as well as other directors of the Commission, “to find solutions to the poor service delivery by the commission, following several complaints to the management, hardship and loss of revenue which the Commission’s poor and negligent services had caused him”.
Whilst he was still in talks with the Registrar, the defendants denied him access to the online portal, therefore preventing him from carrying out briefs at the commission.
Despite several written complaints, he is yet to be granted access to the commission or the online portal and has therefore been unable to complete pending transactions or commence new ones.
Ashimole also said that he was physically restrained by the Commission’s Chief Security Officer from entering the commission.
The matter has been fixed for hearing on 15th May 2018 at the High Court 2, Maitama, Abuja.
