Delta State Judiciary has been thrown into mourning following the untimely death of Honourable Justice O. Jologho Williams. Justice Jalogho-Williams was said to have passed on yesterday, after a brief illness.
According to Chief Arthur Obi-Okafor, SAN, “the passing on of the erudite legal mind is no doubt a great loss to the bench particularly and the good people of Delta State in general. The late Justice Williams, was an erudite jurist who served on the bench with total commitment, utmost humility and great dedication.”
“Her demise is a shocking eclipse, that has left a great vacuum in the Delta State Judiciary and I pray the Almighty to grant her family, the bench and people of Delta State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, while granting the soul of the departed eternal rest.”
In other tributes, the late judge was described as an erudite legal scholer and jurist of tall order.
An erudite legal scholar and jurist of a tall order. She has no place for delay tactics and technicality. She would slam a head crouching cost on you if you dare it. She made many adjournment lawyers and unserious litigants conform themselves to seriousness. Litigation is a serious business. She is calm, polite, jovial and humble. She loves her job and carried herself special as an unblemished and unbias umpire.
Hon. Justice Jalogho-Williams worked herself to the bones as a vacation judge who also covered two jurisdictions. She was hardworking, punctual and regular.
Her death is a call on the judiciary to overhaul and rejig it’s workforce. There is need to create more jurisdiction and employ young and energetic lawyers as judges.
The government must look into this critically as our judges are over working themselves. They still write in long hands in this century! They have judgments and rulings piled up which must be written and delivered within 90 days.
They too are the earth. They are humans and not slaves!
In tears as human, I feel your demise. You were courageous and firm. You were a woman of style and class. You have fought a good fight my noble Lord. Rest on until we meet to part no more.
Also mourning her demise, Mr. Itedjere Jude stated; The news of your sudden death is a joke taken too far. It must be an April fool. I wait patiently for d Lai Mohammed who will tell me its an April fool. My heart is heavy, my eyes are full, my patience is running out, my ears are attentive. Who shall break d news?, oh death, why do virtuous people not last?. Why now? What a loss! Oh death please free Hon. Justice Jalogho Williams to continue her noble works for this, is a joke taken too far.
It would be recalled that sometime in 2017, late Justice Jalogho-William delivered a landmark judgment convicting the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development, in Delta State Mr. Dan Okenyi, for failing to release pertinent land documents to the Umu-Okpala Omai family of Umusam, Kwale. A judgement which allegedly led to her redeployment from Kwale High Court to Isiokolo, also in Delta State.
May her soul rest in peace.
