The Arewa Lawyers Forum (ALF) has congratulated the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on a hitch free quarterly meeting and adoption of candidates for the forth coming NBA general elections.
At the quarterly meeting of the EBF, which held recently in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Arewa promised to respect the decision and list forwarded to it by the EBF, following “the finest traditions of the Bar.”
Speaking at the EBF meeting and adoption, Vice-chairman of the Arewa Lawyers Forum, Chief Garba Pwul (SAN) applauded the EBF for being transparent and orderly in the conduct of the screening exercise. He assured the EBF that Arewa Lawyers will work with the list forwarded to it by the EBF. “Arewa will respect the EBF decision” he said.
“Let us develop this mutual respect, though we are here to observe, we have learnt enough. Respect each other, for tomorrow is another day”
“We are all winners, some offices not zoned to you must be ready to be traded off, horse trading is always a part of the process”
“The EBF had produced good Presidents for the Bar in the past like Mr. Onueze Chijinka Joe (OCJ) Okocha ( SAN), Mr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Mr. Okey Wali (SAN) and we hope that Chief Arthur Obi- Okafor will maintain the stride” Pwul stated.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Arthur Obi Okafor emerged Presidential candidate of the EBF for the forthcoming NBA elections.
Other endorsed candidates are Stanley Chidozie Imo, for First Vice-President, Innocent Nnamdi Eze for Legal Adviser, Sebastine Anyia for Welfare Secretary, Uju Mary Chukwuma-Okafor for Treasurer, Emeka Anosike Financial Secretary and Mr. Seth Nwokolo for the office of Assistant Publicity Secretary.
