For allegedly breaking into a house in the night and stealing two laptops and other property worth N738, 000, a 30-year-old man, Major Oluwafemi, was on Monday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
He was, however, released on N150, 000 bail.
Oluwafemi, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The accused with others still at large committed the offences on June 14 at 11.23. pm. at No. 23, Taiwo Adeleke Str., Ayetoro-Itele, near Ota, according to Police Prosecutor Chudu Gbesi.
Gbesi told the court that alleged that the accused and others broke into the house of the complainant, Mr Omotayo Kuti, and stole two HP laptops and others items valued at N738,000.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, denied the charges.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O.Banwo, granted him bail in the sum of N150, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Banwo said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and also show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
Further hearing has been fixed for Aug. 14.
