The Taraba state judiciary has announced Monday, August 7 as the commencement date for the 2023 annual vacation of the state High Courts.
According to a notice issued by the Acting Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Joel F Agya, the vacation shall continue until Sunday, October 1, 2023.
The notice reads:
Whereas it is provided under Order 8 Rule 4 (1) and (2) of the Taraba State High Court Civil Procedure Rules, 2011, that there shall be an annual vacation of the High Court of the State to Commence on such date in August and of such duration not exceeding six weeks as the Chief Judge may by notification in the gazette appoint.
Now therefore, it is hereby notified for general information that there shall be a vacation of the High Court throughout the state commencing from Monday, 7th August, 2023 and ending on Sunday, 1st October, 2023.
For the avoidance of doubt, vacation in this notification means that the Courts in all the Divisions of the High Court of the State will not be sitting during the period stated except where the action is urgent or a judge at the request of all parties concerned agree to hear the action.
It is also to be notified for general information that Honourable Justice Dauda N. Buba shall serve as the vacation judge during the period.
