NJI Seeks Modern Judicial Accounting Software

The Administrator of National Judicial Institute, Justice, Salisu Abdullahi, has says there is need for prudent management of resources by personnel in charge of finance management in the judiciary sector.

He also called on them to modernise the system of financial management in the judiciary, by ensuring timely provision of recent accounting software, and also provide access to quality information to the staff under their supervision.

Abdullahi stated these during the opening ceremony of the hybrid national workshop on the management of judicial financial resources in Abuja.

The workshop was organised by the NJI for Directors, Deputy Directors of Finance, Chief Accountants, Auditors, Procurement Officers, Budget Officers and other staff handling finances and resources of their respective courts, with the theme, ‘Promoting integrity and transparency in the administration of justice’.

“Distinguished participants, you are expected to modernise the system of financial management in the judiciary by ensuring the timely provision of recent accounting software and also providing access to quality information to the staff under your supervision,” he said.

Recent economic policies of government, he noted, demanded prudent administration and management of the financial resources.

He said the forum was organised with the aim of dispensing skills required for the smooth running of the Judiciary.

According to him, “In addition, the workshop is organised with the objective of keeping you abreast with global best practices in the management of public funds and accounting standards.

“In view of extant financial regulations, it is imperative to properly plan, budget and manage the finances of the judiciary. Consequently, the theme of this workshop is targeted at ensuring that participants dispense funds of the judiciary, with the highest sense of responsibility, transparency and integrity.”
