Juritrust Centre for Socio Legal Research and Documentation (JURITRUST) , the Public Interest Law Partnership (PILP) , IIDEA RoLAC Program and Duty Solicitors Network (DSN) Provide Support For Volunteer Lawyers at the NBA AGC Legal Aid Clinic.
The three NBA Vice Presidents and NBA’s Human Rights Institute in collaboration with Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, National Human Rights Commission and The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons provide free legal advice and services to indigents at the upoming NBA AGC.
The Nigerian Bar Association’s Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL), FIDA and AWLA have also mobilized their members from across the nation to provide legal aid services at the upcoming NBA AGC Conference to be held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja from the 25th of August to the 1st of September 2023, from 10am daily.
Citizens and residents within Abuja are encouraged to visit the Free Legal Clinic tent at the venue of the AGC to speak to a lawyer of their choice about their legal issues and get advice on how to resolve those issues.
SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED FOR FREE INCLUDE:
- Advice on Landlord and Tenancy
- Advice on Contracts
- Advice on starting a new Business
- Advice on taking loans
- Advice on marriage and matrimonial disputes
- General Dispute resolutions: Mediation and Reconciliation services
- Domestic Violence, Trafficking in Persons, Persons living with Disability and Child Rights issues
- Child Custody and maintenance
- Employer/Employee Disputes
- General Human Rights issues, abuse of office and complaints of violations of personal rights
The NAPTIP Antitrafficking Legal Hubs (Edo, Delta and Lagos) will be on ground to receive complaints and handle issues around trafficking in persons including labour exploitation issues.
We call on our other colleagues to visit the legal aid tent and give moral support to their colleagues who are volunteers.
