A group of lawyers under the aegis of the Radical Agenda Movement of the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) has asked the Nigerian Police to release Mr. Olanrewaju James (popularly known as Baba Ijesha who was arrested and has since been in police detention following his alleged molestation of an underaged girl.
RAMINBA’s letter is coming after the Lagos DPP advised that a prima facia case has been established against Baba Ijesha. According to the DPP’s advice, Baba Ijesha is to be charged on a five count charge which includes Defilement, sexual molestation amongst others.
According to the convener of the group, the continued detention of Baba Ijesha is an infringement on his right to personal liberty noting that he remains innocent until proven guilty.
The group urged the police to ensure that the rule of law is upheld insisting that the JUSUN Strike which has made it impossible for the courts to sit is not the fault of the alleged offender.
