Ebube Akpamgbo Bags 10 Awards as UNN’s Best Graduating Law Student

Ebube Akpamgbo has proved that academic excellence is possible despite these odds by emerging the best graduating student of the faculty of law of the University of Nigeria Nsukka with a CGPA of 4.76 —one of the highest the faculty has recorded.

At the 49th Convocation of the Institution held on the 10th and 11th of June 2021, Ebube was awarded 10 prizes, certificates and monetary gifts, for this feat. He was conferred with the following awards:

1. Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Law (First Class Honours).
2. Best Graduating Student in the Department of Jurisprudence (First Class Honours).
3. Best Graduating student in the Department of Private and Public Law (First Class Honours).
4. Best Graduating Student in the Department of Property Law (First Class Honours).
5. Faculty Prize for Best Student in Company & Partnership Law. 
6. Okey Akobundu’s Academic Prize to the Best Graduating Student in Company & Partnership Law.
7. Okey Akobundu’s Academic Prize for Best Graduating Student in Jurisprudence & Legal Theory (First Class Honours).
8. Best Graduating Student in the Department of International and Comparative Law.
9. Best Graduating Student in the Department of Commercial and Corporate Law.
10. J. Nnadi (SAN) Prize to the best final year student in Evidence and procedure (first class Honours).

Speaking with DNL Legal & Style, Ebube hinted that as an undergraduate, he interned with some top law firms; Banwo & Ighodalo, ÆLEX Legal Practitioners & Solicitors, G. Elias & Co, Details Solicitors, and White & Case LLP of UK.

He also served in some faculty positions. He was the Judge of the High Court of the Law Students Association (LAWSA) and Senior Editor of the Barrister Magazine of 2019.

Speaking further, Ebube had this words for students who aspire to attain excellent grades; “Smart work, repetitive and associative reading as well as persistence even when they make grades they least expect. Then, embellishing them all with prayers and good character.”

Ebube also recalls recording two C’s in his sessional law courses with coincidental 59% scores. Like every other law student, he revealed that he stumbled many times; forgot his principles and cases in exams, had hard times reading, fell sick during exams, among others.
