The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Paul Usoro SAN has dissolved the Election Committee set up by the NBA Dutse Branch. He has also constituted a three-member caretaker committee to handle the affairs of the branch upon the expiration of the tenure of the Executive Committee of the branch on 29th June 2020.
In a statement issued by the General Secretary of NBA, Mr. Jonathan Gunu Taidi, Esq. the dissolution followed the recommendation of the Northern Zone Branch Election Appeals Panel.
The statement reads in part;
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2020 Branches Elections Appeals Panel (Northern Zone) considered the appeals of Hafizu Sule Abubakar and M. M. Kashim on the constitution of the Branch Election Committee and reached the decision that the said Branch Election Committee was constituted in contravention of Article 10 (3) and 10 (10) (a) of the Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches and recommended that the Dutse Branch Election Committee be disbanded/dissolved.
The recommendation is accepted and following the expiration of the tenure of the Executive Committee of Dutse Branch on 29th June, 2020 the President, Paul Usoro, SAN has constituted a Caretaker Committee to handle the affairs of the Branch in line with Article 11 of the Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches for a period of three (3) months.
The Caretaker Committee may co-opt such members as it deems necessary and is composed of the following:
Tijjani Inuwa Dutse, MNI
Muhammad Adamu Gausu
Jonah Victor Chimezie, Esq. Members of the Branch are advised to cooperate with the Caretaker Committee as it pilots in the interim, the affairs of the Branch. Accept the assurances of our professional regards.
