The Business of Law Conference, a CSR initiative of Nigeria’s Premier Business Academy for Lawyers, Strictly Law Business Academy, will convene its second edition 9am on 28th January, 2020 at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The theme for this year’s conference is Visibility: Positioning Lawyers and the Legal Industry for more Business Opportunities.

The conference has been structured into the following 4 Panel Q & A Sessions;

  1. Visibility: A Catalyst for Business Opportunities (Session for lawyers)
  2. Visibility & Networking: Engaging for more. (Business Executives)
  3. Visibility as a Tool for Law Firm Market Viability (Law Firm Segment)
  4. Blazing the Trail, Gaining ing Prominence (Thriving & Upcoming Lawyers)

According to the convener and Nigeria’s foremost thought leader on business of law, Busola Ajala, the rationale for this year’s theme is to enable lawyers to understand and apply the principles of visibility, networking and business development in attracting and monetizing business opportunities.

According to Busola Ajala, lawyers and the entire legal industry is not doing enough as far as positioning for business engagements is concerned. Jobs naturally meant for lawyers are still being contracted to other professionals while some prospective clients still do not know the solutions we are able to provide simply because we haven’t sufficiently showcased ourselves and competencies strong enough for our services to be known and hire.

Our target market must know us, like us and trust us enough to hire us.

It is for these reasons, we have introduced the law firm session in this year’s conference. The panelists will be discussing and sharing on the various strategies their firms have adopted for visibility, the challenges and benefits.

Panelists for this session are Partners from leading law firms; Ozofu Ogiemudia of UUBO, Michael Orimobi of Tokunbo Orimobi Legal Group, Chinyere Okorocha of Jackson Etti and Edu, Chike Obianwu of Templars. To moderate the session are Joy Harrison-Abiola, Practice Administrator for ACAS-LAW, President, Association of Law Administrators of Nigeria and Funbi Matthew, Practice Development Manager, Bloomfield Law Practice, Chairman, Learning and Development ALAN.

This is a must attend conference for every lawyer keen on attracting more briefs and increasing its clientele base.
