The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kunle Edun condoled with both NBA Benin and Effurun Branch over the death of two lawyers; Late Omo Iyioha Osobase and Isaac Ehichoya Oseghale.
Mr. Osobase was kidnapped and subsequently murdered by his abducted while Mr. Oseghale passed on in a hospital.
Speaking on the two very painful deaths, the statement noted: “It is with shock that the NBA President, Paul Usoro,SAN received the sad news of the murder of Omo Iyioha Osobase Esq., a member of the NBA Benin branch, who was kidnapped and murdered by some evil souls recently. It is gratifying that the concerted efforts of the leadership and menbers of the NBA Benin branch and security agencies have led to the arrest of the culprits who later took policemen to where they buried our dear colleague.”
“The NBA family suffered another calamity with the passing away of Esq. a member of NBA Effurun branch who passed on today at the hospital.”
“On behalf of the National officers and members of the Nigerian Bar Association, the NBA President expresses his condolences over these sad events. The NBA family stands with the leaders and members of NBA Benin and Effurun branches in these trying times, and we pray that the Almighty God will grant the families and friends of dear colleagues the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses.”
“The NBA will continue to monitor, through the NBA Benin branch, the investigation of the murder of Osobase and ensure that the culprits are made to face the harshest punishment under the law.”
“May God grant our departed colleagues eternal rest.”
