A magistrate court sitting in Ogba Lagos State has sentenced actress Funke Akindele and husband Abdulrashed Bello a.ka JJC Skills to 14days of community service.
They are to serve three hours per day excluding Saturday and Sunday. They must each visit 10 public places to educate people on the consequences of not complying with the directives of government on the coronavirus pandemic.
The court also ordered them to pay a fine of N100,000 each and be isolated for 14days in a place to be determined by the Lagos State Ministry of Health.
The AG Lagos says plans are also underway to apprehend others who attended the party so they can face the law.
Funke Akindele was arrested for hosting a birthday party for her husband which was attended by several people at her home in violation of the social distancing prescription.
She was subsequently arraigned with her husband and they pleaded guilty to a one count charge of hosting a gathering of over 20 persons contrary to the social distancing directives of the Governor of Lagos State made pursuant to Regulation 8(1)(a) & (b) and 17 (1)(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020.
