Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mr. Jibrin S. Okutepa has said he will not support the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) embarked upon to enforce the minimum wage of N58,000 for workers. In his view, the strike action will only affect the poor and down trodden.
“I am not going to support the strike that wants minimum wage of N58k for workers.
I want to support strike that will demand that those who are taking home N12 million monthly or more either in the executive or the legislature be made to take 58k monthly and their earnings be made transparent.”
I will support strike that demands that court orders be respected and obeyed.
I will support strike that makes civil servants to do their job honestly and corrupt free.
I support strike that makes governors, ministers legislative houses both at Federal and state levels more responsible and accountable.
I will support strike that demands that good roads and or social amenities are provided for us.
I will support strike that will make the government to bring to book those who have impoverished Nigerians and Nigerian state.
I will support strike that makes us as a people to show respect to law and rule of law.
I will support strike that will make government to give good governance and accountability. We have tolerated enough bad governance in this country.
This strike will only affect the poor and down trodden.”
