Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana has called the bluff of Mr. Lawal Pedro SAN over an invitation to discuss issues bothering on the interest of a certain member of the branch in the upcoming election
In a letter to Mr. Pedro SAN, Mr. Ogunlana indicated that it is an affront on his office for any group to gather in the name of “Elders, Leaders and stakeholders without his active involvement as the Chairman and the Chief Stakeholder of the branch.
The Chairman not that regardless of its motive, such stakeholders meeting is fundamentally defective.
“As you have made known to me; the purport of this your meeting is to deliberate on a certain electoral matters and fortunes of a particular member of the branch. To the best of my knowledge, our electoral processes is going on well and peaceful with interested persons freely submitting to the jurisdiction of the Electoral Committee including the gentleman you mentioned to me.”
“The salience of my discourse with you, sir, as I recall, are as follows:
- I, as Chairman of the NBA Ikeja Branch was not consulted at all before you sent your message abroad.”
“May I humbly inform you sir that no matter the sincerity of your goodself in being involved in this emergency “Stakeholders meeting” it is fundamentally defective, ab ignition; for reasons herein afore stated.”
“I am not just a stakeholder in the NBA Ikeja Branch, I am, by the special grace of God Almighty, the Chief Stakeholder of the NBA Ikeja Branch. This fact should be respected fully and appropriately and the same should not be affronted wittingly or unwittingly, the letter reads in part.”
It would be recalled that serious crisis heralded the emergence of Mr. Ogunlana as the Chairman of the branch. A crisis that saw the intervention of the National NBA and major stakeholder. It is hoped that this is not the beginning of another crisis in the Tiger Bar.
