Honourable Justice Opeyemi Oke was born on June 10, 1954 to the family of Barrister (Revd.) B. F. O. Otesanya and Mrs E. O. Otesanya from Ogun State. She attended the Methodist Primary School Surulere from 1961-1963; Methodist Primary School, Ekotedo Ibadan, 1964-1965; University of Ife Staff Staff School Ibadan Campus, 1965-1967; Fiwasaiye Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Akure, 1968-1972 and Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo 1973. She was admitted to the prestigious University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) to study law in 1973 and graduated in 1978. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979 having passed her bar exam. She then proceeded to the Coppin State College, Baltimore, State of Maryland, USA for her LLM and in 1982 she bagged a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with First Class Honours.

Honourable Justice Oke began her professional career in the firm of Otesanya & Otesanya immediately after her call to bar in 1979. She also worked briefly with the Maryland State-Parole and Probate Department and was given a Volunteer Service Award in 1981-1982. She was also a Legal Officer at the Federal Housing Authority between 1982 and 1986.

She joined the Lagos State Judiciary as a Senior Magistrate  and rose to the level of a Chief Magistrate Grade 1 between 1986 and 1996. In 1993, she became the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Lagos High Court and on July 19, 1994, she was appointed Judge of the High Court of Lagos State.

On Monday, September 25, 2017,  Honourable Justice Oke was sworn in as the 16th Chief Judge of Lagos state and the 6th female to be appointed Chief Judge in the State.

Justice Oke has attended several workshops and seminar in Nigeria and abroad, amongst which are the Advanced Management Studies, ASCON, Badagry Lagos 1988; Workshop on Judicial Administration by National Judicial Institute 1993; Induction Course for Judicial Officers by National Judicial Institute 1997; Judicial Reform, Conflict Management and Court Administration, American University, Washington DC, USA 1999-2000; Hubert Humphrey Fellow, a Fulbright Programme, American University, USA 2000 and many more.

She is married to Mr. Akinyele Oke and they are blessed with three Children.
