Dr. Mrs. Myma Adwowa Belo-Osagie is a Senior Partner at Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie, a top tier law firm with offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. She holds a LL.B from the University of Ghana, Legon (1975) while her LL.M (1978) and SJD (1985) where both from Harvard Law School.  She is admitted to practice law in Nigeria, Ghana and New York.

MYMA BELO-OSAGIEShe started the build up to her career part in 1973 as an assistant at the Accra High Court Registry, Ghana. Between 1974 and 1975 she worked as an officer in the Legal Department of the State Insurance Corporation. She was also a research assistant to the Head of International Legal Studies at the Harvard Law School between 1978 and 1979.

She became a Partner in Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie in 1986 and has carved a niche for herself in the areas of corporate restructuring, acquisitions, foreign investment, regulatory communications, equity finance and infrastructure projects, among many others.

Myma is ranked as a “leading lawyer” for her corporate, mergers and acquisitions (Chambers Global Guide), project finance (IFLR 1000 and Who’s Who Legal), finance and telecommunications (Legal 500) work. She assisted with the drafting of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 and was retained by federal government to assist with the drafting of Nigeria’s downstream gas legislation. She had advised several local, regional and international companies, organizations, institutions and governments on a variety of transactions. She sits on the board of directors of various companies and acts as a trustee on the board of several not-for-profit organizations, including the African Leadership Foundation, the Growing Businesses Foundation, the African Wildlife Foundation and the Art and Business Foundation. In April 2018, she was elected an international honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences becoming the third Nigerian to join the academy, after Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate.

Myma has published in international journals several articles on Nigerian petroleum regulations, Nigerian environmental law and foreign investment in Nigeria.

She is an Inaugural member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group; Member Ghanaian Bar Association, Nigerian Bar Association, New York Bar Association, American Bar Association and International Bar Association.

Dr. Belo-Osagie is married to Hakeem Belo-Osagie and they are blessed with children
