The State Judicial Service Commission, SJSC, has uncovered fraud perpetrated by a lawyer and has meted out various disciplinary actions against the erring staff.
The Commission headed by the State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, also affirmed recommendations of the investigation panel and accordingly by compulsorily retiring one Barrister John Nwokobia, an Assistant Director in the Commission for unauthorized and illegal withdrawal of sums of money from an account operated by the Court and the conversion same for personal use.
The Commission, which has its Chairman as the State Chief Judge and other members including President of Customary Court of Appeal, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, members of Nigerian Bar Association and other interest groups, stated that the purpose of the action was not to witch-hunt any staff but to reinforce the principle and lofty ideals of probity, accountability and discipline, which the Judiciary system stands for.
Other affected staff committed various offences ranging from misappropriation of funds, dereliction of duty, gross insubordination, incompetence and who infracted on the public service rules and regulations.
