On Sunday, 10th June, 2018, the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division held a prayer and valedictory session for the departed soul of Honourable Justice Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi (CFR). Late Justice Akanbi passed on to the great beyond on the 3rd of June, 2018 and was on the same day buried according to Islamic dictates.
At the prayer and valedictory session held at the foyer of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, eminent jurist and advocates amongst other dignitaries were present. Honourable Justice Tijanni Abubakar represented the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division. Also from the Court of Appeal at the session was Honourable Justice Y. B. Nimpar.
The President of the National Industrial Court, Honourable Justice B. A. Adejumo (OFR) was represented by the Presiding Judge of the National Industrial Court, Lagos Division, Honourable Justice B. B. Kanyip. Also at the event were Justice K. O. Alogba, Justice T. Oyekan-Abdullahi, Justice Aishat Opesanwo, Justice O. A. Adamson, Honourable Justice A. O. Soladoye, all from the High Court of Lagos State.
In his sermon, Imam Shakirudeen Abdulgafar, the Mufasir of Lagos Central Mosque reminded participant at the session of the importance of living a ritheous life. He urged participants to emulate the incorruptible life lived by Late Justice Akanbi. He also prayed for the eternal rest of the soul of Late Justice Akanbi.
In his earlier message, Justice Tijanni Abubakar had expressed gratitude to Honourable Justice Oyekan Abdullahi who had initiated the session in which the Court of Appeal bought into.
From the Bar, eminent senior advocates including, Alhaji M. D. Belgore (SAN), Alhaji Shina Sofola (SAN) Alhaji A. J. Owonikoko (SAN) gave heart warming valedictory remarks on Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi (CFR).
The NBA branches were represented by the Chairman of Lagos Branch of the NBA, Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom.
May the soul of Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi continue to rest with his creator.
