2018 New Year wishes from; Chief Arthur Obi Okafor SAN, Mazi Afam Osigwe, Mobolaji Ojibara Ph.D, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN and Mr. Paul Usoro SAN to Nigerian Lawyers
Let’s Build a Strong, United and Virile NBA,
I, Arthur Obi Okafor, SAN welcome you to year 2018.
As we celebrate the dawn of a new year, I join all Nigerians, especially members of our noble association; the Nigerian Bar Association in thanking the Almighty God for the gift of life, health and grace to surmount the challenges of the outgone year.
The year 2017 was an eventful year, one which our organisation was called to duty like never before since the inception of our constitutional democracy in 1999 to defend the independence and integrity of the judiciary as the last hope for the common man.
As we enter the year 2018, it is my strong belief that the Bar will be more proactive, focused, people oriented and actively take up the challenge of promoting constitutional democracy. I urge us all, as members of this great organisation to join hands in building a strong, united and virile NBA, an organisation that will make the welfare of its members a top priority.
May the year 2018 fill our households with joy, happiness, good health and prosperity..
Happy New Year !
Arthur Obi Okafor SAN, FCIArb. FICMC.
Welcome to 2018 – Let’s Celebrate Life and Keep Hope Alive.
Dear colleagues and friends,
I thank Almighty God for making it possible for us and our loved ones to witness the year, 2018. We are grateful to God for allowing us to be in the land of the living, seeing us through 2017 and leading us into this New Year.
Many looked forward to this day but could not make it. God in His mercy permitted us to live to see this day, not because we deserve to see it better than those who did not, but because it pleased Him. We are indeed grateful.
For God’s blessings upon us, His goodness, uplifting, good health and successes, we give Him thanks. We have reasons for thanking God for the year, 2017. I am not unmindful some of us may have suffered set-backs, losses, or even passed through trials and tribulations in the year 2017. Many dreams were either not realized or shattered. In everything, we give thanks to God. As the saying goes, ‘if there is life, there is hope.’ Let’s celebrate life and keep hope alive.
If Almighty God wills it, you will surely achieve whatever goals you set your mind on and diligently work towards achieving. As Brian Tracy, noted: “You are engineered for success and designed to have high levels of self-esteem, respect and personal pride. You have absolutely amazing untapped talents and abilities that when properly unleashed and applied, can bring you everything you could ever want in life. The only real limits on what you can be, do or have are the limits you place on yourself by your own thinking”.
The New Year offers us an opportunity to reach our goals and achieve our dreams. We should strive hard while making each day count as we seek to realise set goals. Today therefore marks the beginning of another year’s journey that will cover for 365 days. Today is a good day as any to make a fresh start.
In our professional lives, may we continue to engage positively with other stakeholders in nation building as we continue to make demands for good governance, respect for rule of law, access to justice and speedy dispensation of justice. These are ideals we must commit to attain at all times.
Finally, may this New Year be a joyful ride for you and your family. As we see the beginning of the year 2018, may God walk us through it and prepare us for better years ahead.
Here’s wishing you best years ahead.
Welcome to 2018.
Happy New Year.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Long live the Nigerian Bar Association!
Mazi Afam Osigwe
Building Our Future Bar in the New Year
As we Enter the new year, let all lawyers reflect and prepare for what is ahead. For all the bad news that seem to dominate our collective consciousness, there are countless experience that remind us of what is best for the Bar, the Legal Profession and the Nation. “To predict the Future, we (you) have to create it”(Drucker). With our collective efforts and God’s grace, 2018 would be our year of meaning and relevance.
Happy new year!
Prof Ernest Ojukwu SAN
Let’s Uphold the Rule of Law
As 2017 winds up and we are ushered into 2018, let us be reminded, as a community of distinguished learned fellows, that the world is watching, as the society looks up to us for leadership, for direction, for guidance.
Let us re-dedicate ourselves to the tenets, the virtues and the foundation upon which the noble profession is built. Let us be, and remain the voice of the voiceless in the society, the defender of the defenceless and the conscience of the nation. Let us take our rightful place in upholding, and ensuring that the rule of law is upheld.
This is wishing us all a prosperous and rewarding 2018
Mobolaji Ojibara, Ph.D FHNR
I See a Bar Re-dedicated to Promoting the Rule of Law
Happy New Year to you all, my dear Colleagues. 2018 holds great promise for us individually and collectively.
I foresee an NBA that is re-dedicated to the ideals of promoting the rule of law, welfare of its members, institutional development, regulation of the legal profession and human capital development. I look forward to working with you towards the achievement of these objectives.
Above all, I pray for Divine guidance, blessings and protection for all of us in 2018 and beyond.
