The African Bar Association has received with deep regret the passing of Senator Cyrus Nunieh on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018. Until his death, Senator Nunieh was a Life Member of the Council of the African Bar Association and he was aged 90.

The Second Republic Senator of the Nigerian Parliament was an astute Bar man and a rugged defender of the Rule of Law and Good Governance in the Continent.

In furtherance of his interest at ensuring inter-religious harmony of the different religions in Africa particularly Christianity and Islam, the African Bar Association appointed him Chairman of its Committee on inter-religious harmony, a position he occupied until his demise.

As the oldest living member of the African Bar Association, Senator Nunieh had continued to participate actively in the activities of the Bar and made useful suggestions for the socio-economic and political progress of Africa and peace in the all producing regions of Nigeria.

He was the first Lawyer from his local Ogoni Land of Rivers State, South South Nigeria, an astute Bar man, a Community Leader, dedicated husband and father and a bridge builder.

He will be greatly missed for his very constructive and ebullient arguments and presentations.

Adieu Consummate Bar Leader.
Adieu! Your soul goes marching on.
Good night and Goodbye.
