President Nana Akufo Addo of Ghana is expected to give the Keynote address at the 58th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association which is scheduled to hold from August 26 to 30 at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
The above revelation was made by the Chairman of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning (TCCP) Mr. George Etomi. In addition, he noted that the Conference which has its theme as “Transformation, Transition and Sustainable Institutions” will focus on how transitions are handled in critical spheres of human endeavours
“The Conference will therefore focus on how transitions are handled in critical spheres of human endeavours and the strength of institutions to withstand the shocks that may be incidental to change.”
The conference which he said will have five sub-themes will include; Political Transition and Governance; Rule of Law & Security; Sustainable Economic Development; Technological Disruptions; and Diversity and Inclusion that will be reflected in discussions at over thirty-five sessions at the conference.
Mr. Etomi further revealed that the conference will also feature a conversation with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari; and an address by a former Head of State of Nigeria, General Abdusalami Abubakar (Retired) who is generally acclaimed to have overseen one of the most peaceful transitions of power from military to civilian authorities. He hinted that there would be high level panel discussions by renowned global and industry leaders in various fields while we will also have a complement of young minds who will be making robust contributions to nation-building from their perspectives.
