Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has inaugurated the State Law Review Committee.
Speaking during the inauguration of the committee at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike said that the Committee is to collate and revise all laws in force in the state. He gave a six months time line for the completion of the review
The Governor who hinted that the last law review was in 2033 under the chairmanship of Late Justice Fibresima noted that the exercise would strengthen the justice system in the state. “This is a very important committee that is relevant to the strengthening of the justice system of the state. “In terms of laws that should be amended, the committee should liaise with the State House of Assembly. “
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Justice TK Osu assured the governor that the committee will deliver on the assignment as scheduled.
In another development, Governor Wike swore in the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Mr Sylvester Mgba .
He charged the new Caretaker Committee Chairman to prioritize the payment of salaries and support for security agencies.
