The burial service of the departed Retired Justice of the Supreme Court Hon Justice Andrews Otutu Obaseki JSC(RTD), CON,OFR, the Obaseki of Benin and father of Hon. Justice O. A. Obaseki-Osaghae Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria attracted men and women of aristocratic dignitaries including His Excellency Godwin Obaseki Governor of Edo State, Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Gov. Akinwumi Ambode, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR President National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Judges of Supreme Court of Nigeria, Court of Appeal, National Industrial Court, Edo State Judiciary, Captain of Industries, Benchers and members of the National Assembly to name few.

The deceased, late Hon. Justice Andrew Otutu Obaseki JSC(RTD), CON, CFR “THE OBASEKI OF BENIN KINGDOM” was an epitome of humility, hard work, honesty, diligence and compassion.

The Funeral Service took place at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Lagos Street, Benin City, Edo State Nigeria today Friday 18th August 2017.

Other dignitaries present were Ag. Chief Registrar National Industrial Court, Olurotimi Daudu Esq, NICN’s staff across the federation.

The eulogies and testimonies for the late jurist who died at the age of 91 years, showed that he was a man of uncommon courage.

His Lordship Hon. Justice Obaseki-Osaghae described her late father as a man of noble birth, great humility; loving, patient, forgiving, peaceful, a gentleman to the core. A brilliant man full of integrity and impeccable character, the quintessential incorruptible judge.

In her words: “Daddy was a unifying factor in the Gaius-Obaseki and everyone gravitated towards him because he was Father to All. He was prepared to meet his maker after confessing Christ”.

His Lordship Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo OFR also encouraged the entire families, finding comfort in the fact that Late Hon. Justice Andrew Otutu Obaseki, CON, JSC, has departed this sinful world to be with the Lord. In consonance with the Christian faith, God gives and God takes, and that daddy is resting at the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Justice Adejumo prayed that God will grant the entire family and Nigeria in general the fortitude to bear the loss of a great man.

With humility and respect, the entire Nigerians and Judiciary in particular say GOODBYE to the legal luminary.

We pray God to grant him eternal rest.
