Nigeria’s Former Attorney General of the Federation, Dr. Olu Onagoruwa, has reportedly passed away.
The Human Rights activist was said to have died on Friday morning, July 21 after a long battle with illness.
Onagoruwa had a doctorate degree in Law and was the only Attorney General of the Federation who did not bag the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title at the time.
He was Nigeria’s Former Attorney General and minister of Justice between 1993 and 1994.
Onagoruwa became Attorney-General after the coup led by late General Sani Abacha and General Oladipo Diya against the government, then headed by Chief Ernest Shonekan.
“Dr. Olu Onagoruwa was a fearless Nigerian who believes that nothing must ever be done to shut the gates of justice against any Nigerian (no matter his status) in any attempt to disturb the path of justice and freedom,” a columnist once wrote of the deceased.
