A National Diploma holder of Law from the Fati Lami Abubakar Institute for Legal and Administrative Studies, Stephen Jeremiah has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for posing as a lawyer.
29 years old Jeremiah was nabbed when he failed to secure an employment for one Usman Wakili of Dandaudu area in Munya local government area who he collected N160,000 from to get him employment government organization.
Waikiki had to report to the police when all efforts to get back his money or secure an employment failed.
Jeremiah was arrested by the state police command with N160,000, credentials of the victim, a framed photograph of him on a lawyer’s attire and a lawyer’s wig.
Speaking to The Nation, Jeremiah said he had not duped anybody or tried to fraudulently secure employment for anyone.
However, he said that he never duped anybody on the presence of being a lawyer adding that the police arrested him because someone told them he took a picture with an attire of a lawyer.
Jeremiah said he took the picture last year and placed it in his office stating that he did not know it was a crime to do so.
The Commissioner of Police, Austin Agbolahor who said that he has been duping people by posing as a lawyer said that no other people have come out to claim Jeremiah duped them.
He also could not state how many victims had fallen prey to Jeremiah’s dupe.
