The Lagos State Ministry of Justice through its Witness Support Unit has organized A-day training workshop on Investigative reporting for officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command.
The training workshop which held at the Police Officers Mess, G.R.A, Ikeja, on Wednesday attracted Divisional Police Officers, and middle cadre officers from across divisions in Lagos State.
Present also at the training was the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Iyamah Daniel, in charge of Training & Development at the Lagos Police Command, Ikeja, and Directors from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice.
The training was organized to enhance the capacity of Police officers in Criminal Investigation and reporting.
Dr. Jide Martins, a Special Assistant to the Attorney General on Public Prosecution who was a facilitator at the workshop, urged the police officers to be mindful of the way they write reports of investigation , saying that such report should be written in clear and easy to understand language.
He further hinted that the police should always issue search warrant while carrying out official investigations, adding that witnesses should be interviewed in a proper friendly way, in order get facts that can hinder the betterment of the case.
Earlier, ACP Daniel said the training was organized for officers in order to keep them updated with investigating and reporting knowledge which would help them deliver efficiently in case investigation and reporting.
