The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Kaduna Branch will open up its doors to public spirited individuals, government and corporate organizations in ensuring that it meets the challenges bedeviling it.
Newly elected chairman of the branch, Suleiman Shaibu expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the novelty football match between Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and Kaduna NBA as part of activities to mark the 2017 NBA Week.
He said the executives he would be leading when sworn-in would be proactive in solving the challenges.
“Expect a lot of difference from what was obtainable in the past. We would look into the challenges bedeviling our branch, one of which is welfare. We have a welfare package for the association. We have to complete Justice Mohammed Bello Bar Centre.
“The project was lagging because we were looking internally for solutions. We intend to partner government, individuals and organizations to key into the projects we have on ground,” he emphasized.
Shaibu while speaking further, stressed that the Kaduna NBA would work hand-in-hand with the Kaduna State Government in ensuring that programmes that would impact on the citizenry are successful.
He explained that the week which began on Friday commenced with the elections where he emerged winner.
“After that, we observed Juma’at prayers and on Saturday, we started with a Road Walk, then we visited the Jamiyar Mata Arewa Orphanage before this novelty match that we are watching right now,” he added.
Still on the activities for the Week, he explained that on Sunday there would be a special church service, while Monday to Wednesday would be the NBA Week proper.
Also speaking in a separate interview, outgoing chairman Kaduna Branch, Sheriff Nda Sule said his tenure was successful and peaceful.
He said that unlike the crisis that led to several law suits before he became chairman, he was able stabilize the association.
“While I was the vice chairman, I had to act as chairman for six months because the position of chairman was in contention in court of law.
While asked if Barnawa Branch has been integrated back, he explained that they are all one.
“The fact that they are a branch doesn’t mean we do not do things together,” he submitted.
