Judge Threatens to Send Away Registrars who Issued Warrant Behind Her Back

Justice Sybil Nwaka of a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere, Lagos Island has threatened to send two of her registrars simply named Tayo and Oluwola, away from her court, for allegedly issuing a production warrant that was not authored by her.

Justice Nwaka, who was very furious with the registrars queried how they could bring a defendant or an accused person on their own without an order ‎of the court.
“It is only the Judge that has the right to order a production warrant, the substantive matter is not in this court” She said.
The Judge also said” The two of you are up to something, my hands are clean, everyday is for the thief ‎but one day is for the owner “.

A defendant Tunde Adewale whose case came up for hearing of his bail application before the court was denied bail as the motion for bail was struck out. Justice Nwaka insisted that she didn’t order the production of the defendant, adding that the substantive matter is not before her and she doesn’t even know the charge preferred against the defendant expect for only the bail application.
“I don’t even know the charge against him, it’s only the bail application brought before me, you sign a production warrant on your own without my knowledge, I am going to send the two of you away from this court” Nwaka held.

However she struck out the motion for bail and ordered that the defendant should be taken back to the medium prison custody where he was produced from.
” The motion for bail is hereby struck out take him back to the medium prison, I never ordered for his production “.
