In a clear show of support to Amasa Firdaus, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. A.B Mahmoud SAN twitted photograph of his daughter Zubaida Mahmoud wearing her hijab during her call to the New York Bar recently and wrote:
My Daughter Zubaida Mahmoud at the ceremony admitting her to the New York Bar earlier this year…the controversy here on Hijab is needless.
However, the tweet has been attracting diverse reactions. While some agree with Mr. Mahmoud, others are of the view that this does not apply to our clime where aspirants are expected to wear wig and gown.

Okay, let us correct it. Posterity will be kind to all of you. This thing should not be difficult, let us drop the colonial dress code and get our full independence. #EndDiscriminationAgainstHijab @Busaayo @Mr_JAGs @ALUSRAHPH

Then we should jettison dress codes so that all faith and deity can be accommodated including tradition worshippers. If hijab is allowed so be it and if it is not , so be it too. Uniformity brings decorum and equality
