For unlawful possession of weed identified as Indian hemp, an Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ile-Ife has remanded a woman and nine other accused men in prison custody.
The accused persons were also alleged to have resisted police arrest when they were caught with the illicit substance at their duty post.
The ten accused persons were: Omobolade Oke, 30; Imeh Essang, 25; Ogunsesan Gbadegesin, 28; Yinka Akinyombo, 20; Sunday Oriade, 24, Moses Oladele, 30; Bayo Adeoye, 27, Kareem Dauda, 26, Tayo Adeyemo, 25 and Wale Olagbaju, 19.
The Police Prosecutor, Emmanuel Abdullahi, alleged that the accused committed the offence on September 15, 2016 around 06:00 am in Ile-Ife and its environs.
He told the court that the accused persons also conspired within themselves to commit felony.
He added that they also conducted themselves in a manner that was likely to cause breach of peace by causing panic to the people in the area during the process of resisting arrest.
The plea of the accused persons were not taken by Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, but ordered their counsels to document their clients bail application.
